I am not doing this anymore Freight train child most often unsure I used to see the sunrise But now it's just dark I keep rolling on, keep trying to catch the sparks There is this man that I trust He promised me forgiveness so I must Make all the mistakes that I can To find the final stake of an honest man Shooting the moon is not what I used to do Give me your heart and I'm sure you’ll lose, too

Alone isn't new but that doesn't make it feel real I stopped here tonight, just trying to steal Love from the people who pass by me And strength from the last leaf on the tree Someone says, "look at that sad girl tonight" My head down and lowly seems just 'bout right My feet feel the things we don't see on the ground Can't I stay dignified as the day I was found? Will I go blind? Or turn to salt? The bible says that's what'll come So I glance at my past, sure But don't stare right at it The corner of my eye sees enough If they can't see the tears, who is to say they are there? You walking by me is the one thing I fear So if you do, just glance, be polite as they come Then I won't have to get up from this pillar and run And dear, I'm here, but I can hardly sing I glance over at you but I stare at her ring You open the door, she smiles white and pure And now I know the devil surely makes those shiny things Will I go blind? Or turn to salt? The bible says that's what'll come So I glance at my past, sure But don't stare right at it The corner of my eye sees enough

The stranger calls a cab through the window Jules' hand waves away the night I don't cry for spilled milk spilled martinis or guts I just gather my things and wait for the bus "I think of every cab I've been in Some sober some my head was spinning While I waved away the night I don't cry for spilled milk Spilled martinis or guts I just gather my things and wait for the bus" I just gather my things And wait for the bus

Here I Go 05:21
Henry, I lost my shoes I think I'm sitting on 6th Please don't yell when you pick me up, I promise I wasn't with Anyone who would hurt me more than I can hurt myself Henry, you took too long, I've got nothing left of my youth The pain in my head and the shame I'm swimming in should be proof That you'd be better off with someone who's not carrying so much guilt If I could show you who I was, maybe you've caught a glimpse of her I walked proud but not too proud along these very same streets You certainly wouldn't be driving to her at two am when the neon signs begin to dim And she would've loved you oh so well, oh well Henry, tell me it’s a dream- this life was not meant for you When I get in as you pick me up, it’ll be the last time I get help from you And you won't even remember the day you met me - well, here I go

about

It was summer 2015 when I called upon three women who's writing I admired to help push me through a wall of writer's block. My friend Kevin Fuller had taken a walk-by photo of this somewhat posed woman on the street and when I saw it, she haunted me for days. My twin sister Melinda Haas (heylouwrites.com), and good friends Kendra Crooks (JAK Media) and Jazzmine Freedom (jazziefrizzle) wrote lyrics inspired by this photo and together we created this EP called The Immoralist. Thanks for helping me through tough times, friends.
